EXCELLENT antique French Victorian era cast iron fireplace hearth coal hod scuttle. This is a rare piece commonly known as a "Turtle" due to turtle shell shaped body and splayed legs. The engraving reads "Corneau Freres A Charleville Ardennes". Wonderful Gothic Zeus face surrounded by scrolls and leaves. It is in excellent condition. This coal hod is VERY heavy (over 50 pounds). A wonderful "statement" piece...perfect accent to add flair and character to any living area, bedroom or country kitchen fireplace or hearth. EXCELLENT condition for its age!
